The residence permit is granted for a maximum of 3 years, the period of validity of the residence permit can be extended by 5 years.
Work Visa
You wish to work in the Netherlands as a highly skilled migrant. You need a residence permit for this.
Conditions:
There are certain conditions that apply to everyone. In addition, you and your employer have to meet the following conditions:
- You have an employment contract with an employer or research institution in the Netherlands. This employer is a recognized sponsor by the IND. Recognized employers are listed in the Public Register of Recognized Sponsors.
- You are going to earn sufficient income.
- The agreed wage is in accordance with market conditions.
Some important point:
- It is then possible to again make use of a maximum of 12 months to prepare for your master’s program
- The residence permit for study is valid for the duration of your education plus 3 months

- The start-up entrepreneur and the facilitator are both registered in the Trade Register of the Chamber of Commerce.
- There are sufficient financial means (resources) to be able to reside and live in the Netherlands.
Benefits of Start-up residence
- The period of validity of the residence permit is up to 1 year. It you can extend it
- Family members of start-up entrepreneurs are allowed to work without a work permit.
